      Sergey Lavrov presented Gorodets-style boards to journalists. As Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reported, media representatives were given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a board painted in the Gorodets style as a gift. The presentation took place during the traditional meeting of Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with journalists. The items were handmade by craftsmen of the "Gorodets Painting" factory from the Nizhny Novgorod region. On the front of the board the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia is depicted, and on the back humorous chastushki are inscribed. The bright original works, each of which is unique, continued the MFA's good tradition of thanking partners in the media sphere with memorable gifts reflecting Russian cultural traditions.

      It is worth recalling that this summer the first museum of Gorodets painting in Russia opened in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The museum is housed in a 19th-century building — an object of regional cultural heritage, where trading rows were previously located. The project investor was the Sladkaya Zhizn Group of Companies, which purchased the structure in an almost ruined condition — only the walls of the monument remained. Over two years the building was completely reconstructed; investments in the project amounted to 200 million rubles.
