The Investigative Committee revealed details of the case against Nizhny Novgorod’s first deputy mayor, Egorov.
03 December 2025 14:38 Incidents The first deputy head of the administration of Nizhny Novgorod has been charged with a corruption crime. The Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region has opened a criminal case against him under Part 3 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — receiving a bribe by an official through an intermediary in a significant amount.
According to investigators, from February to August 2025 the official received a bribe through an intermediary in exchange for assisting in organizing illegal commercial activity in the city.
The crime was uncovered as a result of joint work by investigators of the Investigative Committee and operatives of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Directorate of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
As part of the investigation, searches were conducted at the suspect's residence and in his office. He is currently detained; he will be formally charged and a pretrial measure of restraint will be chosen in the near future.
The Nizhny Novgorod Investigative Committee also added that investigative actions and operational measures in this case are ongoing. Law enforcement officers are working to secure evidence and are checking the suspect's possible involvement in other episodes of corrupt activity.
Earlier, the Nizhny Novgorod administration said it was assisting the investigation in the Yegorov case.
Recall that another former mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Ilya Shtokman, was accused of receiving a bribe of 55 million rubles.
