      "After training I see myself as useful in the field of psychological rehabilitation of SVO veterans and their integration into peaceful life. My goal is to bring civil society and yesterday's fighters closer together, to raise the level of mutual understanding between these groups," said the veteran of the special military operation and participant in the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program, Alexander Minov.

      In his opinion, the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the state need people who can make the right decision even in a critical situation.

      "The 'Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region' program has gathered those who are ready to sacrifice their comfort and even their lives for the good of others. We all know how to take responsibility, fully aware of the consequences of our decisions. That is why this program is so important," the SVO veteran noted.

      During the training, Alexander plans to develop teamwork skills, although the range of competencies that participants can gain within the program is much broader.

      "Training gives me many new useful acquaintances — it was a revelation to me the number and quality of people who passed the selection. The program itself more or less covers a wide range of competencies, and that is important: when seeking employment it is not enough to have just one advantage. You need to be a professional, be able to build rapport with people, plan future work, make decisions, take responsibility for managing a team. These are the areas I am trying to master in classes and internships," he emphasized.

      As for managerial competencies, Alexander Minov had to apply them during his service as well. He began his path in the SVO zone as a machine-gunner, later became a group commander, and also deputy commander of a reconnaissance group.

      Now Alexander is training under the guidance of his mentor — the head of the branch of the state fund for supporting participants of the special military operation "Defenders of the Fatherland" for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Ekaterina Generalova. Together with her, the program participant works with veterans who have returned from the front.

      "I am very glad that I chose such a mentor, and Ekaterina Alekseevna chose me. Veterans turn to the fund with pressing issues, including for psychological and social support, help with preparing and restoring documents, and organizing the rehabilitation process. And our task is not only to help participants of the special operation, but also to increase society's engagement in the subject of patriotism, unite people for the good of the country, make them friendlier and kinder," concluded Alexander Minov.

      Recall that the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program is aimed at integrating and employing participants and veterans of the special military operation into the system of public administration. In March 2025, an agreement was signed between the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, RANEPA and KUPNO on cooperation in the implementation of this program.

      On March 31, 2025, registration for participation in the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program ended. During the selection campaign, 1,613 applications were received from Nizhny Novgorod residents.

      By the total points from questionnaires, testing, online interviews and assessment, as well as based on the results of in-person interviews with the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Andrey Gneushev, 60 participants for the main educational program and 30 people to be included in the next cohort upon returning to the region were selected.

      On August 4, 2025, the official opening of training under the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program took place; the ceremony was attended by the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin. Sixty people selected to participate in the educational program began their training.
