Bastrykin has taken an interest in violations of the rights of large families in the settlement of Gidrotorf.

      29 November 2025 18:00 Incidents — The Investigative Committee of Russia has opened an investigation into an alleged violation of the rights of large families in the settlement of Gidrotorf in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the agency’s press service reported.

      The probe was prompted by an appeal from Nizhny Novgorod residents to the Information Center of the Investigative Committee of Russia. They said that in 2020 plots were allocated to citizens eligible for benefits for individual housing construction and personal subsidiary farming. However, the area was found to lack the necessary infrastructure.

      The access road is not paved, and during the rainy season the unpaved surface is washed away and potholes form, making passage difficult. Despite numerous appeals by residents to the competent authorities, the situation has not changed.

      The Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region has opened a criminal case. The head of the regional directorate, Ayrat Akhmetshin, was instructed to report on the progress and results of the investigation to the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin. The execution of the instruction is being monitored by the agency’s central office.

      Earlier it was reported that the Chairman of the Investigative Committee requested a report on a criminal case opened in connection with violations of living conditions in an apartment building on General Ivliev Street in Nizhny Novgorod.
