A Nizhny Novgorod manufacturer of heating equipment will reduce production time by 25% thanks to a national project.

      Experts of the Regional Competence Center (RCC), together with employees of LLC "Evan" in Nizhny Novgorod, summed up the preliminary results of implementing the tools of the federal project "Labor Productivity" of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy" at the enterprise. The company is a developer and manufacturer of heating and water-heating equipment.

      Specialists from the Regional Competence Center work at enterprises participating in the federal project for six months. After three months an Information Day is held, during which RCC experts summarize their work and present plans for the second part of the project.

      "RCC experts analyzed the company's operations and, together with the company's employees, selected a pilot flow — the process of producing electric boilers. The flow's share of the company's revenue is 50 percent. According to preliminary forecasts, by the time the project is completed the pilot flow's throughput time will decrease by at least 25 percent — from 60 to 45 hours — and output will increase by nine percent," said Maksim Cherkasov, Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      Over three months of work, RCC experts together with the company's employees analyzed the current state and identified 39 problem areas. These included varying times for seam cleaning after welding, excessive operator movement, and uneven operator loading on the final assembly line. Solutions were proposed for each "bottleneck," and an action plan was developed.

      RCC experts have already trained 28 company employees in lean manufacturing and have also prepared three internal trainers who will be able to conduct lean production training for staff independently in the future.

      In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, seven metalworking enterprises are successfully implementing the tools of the federal project "Labor Productivity" of the national project "Efficient and Competitive Economy." In total, 302 regional companies are participants in the federal project.
