Seven dilapidated garages will be torn down on Heroes Avenue in Nizhny Novgorod.

      29 November 2025, 14:31 — Society. Authorities of Nizhny Novgorod have decided to demolish seven illegally erected brick garages located in the Moskovsky District. The corresponding decree was published on the city administration’s website.

      The matter concerns six half-ruined garages joined into a single block and one standing separately. The structures have been declared illegal constructions and are subject to demolition within six months. All of them are located on the plot between house No. 167 on Moskovskoye Highway and house No. 12 on Heroes Avenue. The land on which the buildings are located is classified as having undivided state ownership.

      According to the city administration’s decree, the owners or titleholders of the plots are obliged to voluntarily remove their property from the garages and demolish them within the established period. Otherwise, the demolition will be carried out by force.

      Earlier it was reported that on 9 August a child who was passing by with his father died due to the collapse of part of the wall of an old abandoned building on Raevsky Street. A criminal case was opened against an employee of the Avtozavodsky District administration. The investigation found that she had been negligent in her duties to identify such structures.
