      Residents of Nizhny Novgorod were told how to properly care for their hair in cold weather and were told the main mistake when using a hairdryer. Trichologist Tatyana Varenova’s recommendations were published on the Telegram channel of NNGU employee Alexey Nikonov.

      The specialist named the use of hot air as the main mistake, saying it dries out the hair shaft and increases brittleness. It is especially harmful to use high temperatures on a regular basis.

      “I advise choosing a medium setting and holding the hairdryer no closer than 15 centimeters from the hair — that way you dry gently, without overheating. Drying will take a little longer, but you will preserve the health of your hair,” Tatyana Varenova advised. The trichologist dispelled the myth that a hairdryer is more harmful than natural drying during the heating season. On the contrary, with high temperature and low humidity hair takes too long to dry and loses moisture. To provide additional protection for the hair before using a hairdryer you can use protective masks, conditioners and leave-in heat protectants.

      Earlier the trichologist warned residents of Nizhny Novgorod against wearing synthetic hats.
