Three people were killed in a traffic accident involving wild animals in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

Since the beginning of 2025, 31 people have been injured in the Nizhny Novgorod region in accidents involving wild animals; three of them have died.
As the NTA-Privolzhye news agency was told by the regional directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, from January to November alone 23 road users were injured as a result of collisions with animals.
For comparison: in 2024, 29 such cases were recorded in the region. One person died in them, and another 43 sustained various injuries.
Accidents involving wild animals occurred most often in the Semyonovsky District — four collisions were registered. There were three cases each in the Krasnobakovsky and Borsky districts. Two incidents involving animals were recorded in the Bogorodsky and Shatkovsky districts.
Current legislation does not yet provide for administrative liability for running over a wild animal. However, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, a fine of 80,000 rubles may be imposed for a killed moose.
According to the regional Ministry of Agriculture, by the beginning of September 2025, 133 accidents involving animals had already been registered in the Nizhny Novgorod region. For the whole of 2024 there were 129 such road accidents — the majority of them had no human casualties.
