Nizhny Novgorod businesses invite people to take part in the "Tree of Wishes" campaign.

      Applications have opened in the Nizhny Novgorod Region to take part in the “Wish Tree. My Business Helps‑52” campaign, which will be held on December 16 at 12:00 at the Ankudinovka Technopark.

      The event is being organized by the regional “My Business” center together with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The center was created under the federal project “Small and Medium Entrepreneurship” of the national project “Effective and Competitive Economy” at the initiative of Governor Gleb Nikitin.

      On the New Year tree at the “My Business” center the baubles of the All‑Russian “Wish Tree” campaign will be hung. Each bauble contains a child’s wish that representatives of the region’s business community can fulfill.

      The Minister of Industry, Trade and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Maksim Cherkasov, said that the campaign is being held for Nizhny Novgorod enterprises for the fourth time. Over the past years participants have fulfilled more than 150 children’s wishes. Companies not only handed out gifts but also organized excursions, themed celebrations and gave out sweets.

      Last year children’s wishes were fulfilled in Nizhny Novgorod and in 28 municipalities of the region. Among the gifts were bicycles, electric scooters, synthesizers, electric guitars, treadmills, frame (above‑ground) pools and other items.

      The campaign provides for three types of wishes: material, non‑material and surprise gifts. Material wishes include books, educational materials, hobby goods, musical instruments, sports equipment, toys, clothing and costumes. Non‑material gifts include the opportunity to try out a profession, trips and meetings with well‑known people. Surprise gifts mean the giver selects a present based on the child’s interests.

      The All‑Russian “Wish Tree” campaign, timed to the New Year holidays, is run by the Public‑State Movement of Children and Youth “Movement of the First.” The campaign fulfills the wishes of children with disabilities, orphans, children from low‑income families and children of servicemen. Every year “magical” trees are installed in government institutions, volunteer centers and at major events.

      Representatives of the structural divisions of the Nizhny Novgorod Region government, federal authorities and the Legislative Assembly are also taking part in the campaign.
