An interactive game on HIV prevention was held for the youth of Nizhny Novgorod.

      On the eve of World AIDS Day, the “Young Nizhny” space, together with specialists from the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and Infectious Diseases, held a meeting for the city’s youth to ensure timely and reliable information on HIV infection. This was reported by the Department of Social Communications and Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod City Administration.

      The meeting took place in the format of the game “Laboratory.” Participants of the event, who were students from educational institutions, moved across the game board, answered questions about HIV infection, and the host provided explanations for each question.

      The game made it possible to discuss not only information about HIV infection — routes of virus transmission, preventive measures, and modern methods of diagnosis and treatment — but also the importance of developing skills for a responsible attitude toward one’s health.

      “I would like to express my gratitude to the Nizhny Novgorod administration for organizing the event and for inviting me to participate. I was especially pleased that all the participants in the board game were interested in receiving new information about HIV infection. I am sure that such events increase the level of awareness and motivate young people to take responsibility for their health,” said Natalia Osipova, a specialist from the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS and Infectious Diseases.

      As a reminder, residents of the Russian Federation in the Nizhny Novgorod region can take a free HIV test at any polyclinic at their place of residence or at the Nizhny Novgorod Center for the Control of AIDS (Minina St., 20E). Testing is accompanied by pre- and post-test counseling on HIV infection.
