During a week-long break between games in their home stretch, the club decided to please supporters and give them a chance to see behind the scenes of the training process. Although it was a weekday, the stands were far from empty. Some even skipped school to watch their favorite players. The first on the ice were goaltenders Denis Kostin and Ivan Kulbakov, accompanied by goalie coach Nikolai Khabibullin. A little later the skaters joined them. The practice lasted about an hour but was held at a high tempo with a variety of drills as intense as a full game. As in a match, there were broken sticks and pucks flying out of the rink, some of which were picked up as souvenirs by the luckiest fans. You couldn’t miss the coach — Alexey Isakov’s voice carried across the arena even over the lively hum of the stands. The session included team drills as well as individual work for defensemen, forwards and goalies. Although the team had a meeting with the coaching staff scheduled after the practice, Torpedo players handed out autographs and posed for photos. Fans were reluctant to let some players go.
