The first set of adaptive clothing was presented to a Nizhny Novgorod veteran of the Special Military Operation.
The regional branch of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" fund in the Nizhny Novgorod region delivered the first set of adaptive clothing to a veteran of the special military operation (SMO). One of the first to receive the new gear was Aleksey Kryukov, who lost a leg as a result of a combat injury. He emphasized that such equipment will noticeably simplify daily tasks.
According to the veteran, it is "beautiful and high-quality clothing." Thoughtfully placed zippers provide quick access to the prosthesis, and such a set is convenient not only for training but also for everyday tasks.
By the end of the year, around one thousand Defenders of the Fatherland across the country are expected to be provided with specialized clothing. The fund was able to supply the sets free of charge thanks to the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
State Secretary — Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation and chair of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" fund, Anna Tsivileva, noted that many SMO veterans with disabilities strive to work and contribute to the state. According to her, 700 applications for sets have already been received, and such demand encourages Russian manufacturers to develop modern and genuinely comfortable models that take into account real needs often overlooked in mass production.
Each veteran's request is considered individually by the fund's expert council to select an option that accounts for specific physical characteristics. The specially designed sets include everything necessary: from underwear and T-shirts to trousers, shorts and outerwear. Design features make dressing easier for people with limb amputations.
Three types of kits are provided — summer, winter and mid-season. Each may include up to 17 items, allowing selection of clothing for different conditions and activities.
Acting head of the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" fund, Yekaterina Musina, reported that 20 applications from the region have been sent to the central office for consideration by the expert council. The first set has already been received and handed over to a veteran. She stressed that the branch team is doing everything possible to ensure that the fighters have clothing that allows them to engage in sports, lead an active life and feel comfortable.
Any SMO veteran using prostheses can report a need for adaptive clothing. To do so, they simply need to submit an application through the social coordinator of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" fund branch in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
It was previously revealed that more than 80% of Nizhny Novgorod SMO veterans are satisfied with the quality of medical care.
