Kstovo City Court suspended the activities of the Vector concrete plant in Nizhny Novgorod for 45 days. The reason was a grave violation of environmental regulations in the handling of industrial waste. The decision was made based on the materials of an unscheduled inspection conducted by inspectors of the Interregional Office of Rosprirodnadzor for the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Republic of Mordovia.
According to the supervisory authority's findings, the enterprise did not provide proper conditions for temporary waste storage, which led to contamination of the area. During an inspection of the site located on the embankment of the Rowing Canal, deposits of soil mixed with construction waste were discovered. The territory was found to be littered, which contradicts the requirements of environmental legislation.
The condition of the land plot located in the Volga’s water protection zone caused particular concern among the inspectors. It was recorded that the fertile soil layer had been covered with construction waste, which is a violation of the Land Code of the Russian Federation. Moreover, it was discovered that the enterprise had tried to conceal traces of the violation by covering the waste with sand. This was confirmed during soil drilling and was recorded on video.
The court rejected all arguments by representatives of LLC "Concrete Plant Vector" of their innocence. It was emphasized that the established violations pose a threat not only to the environment but also to the health of residents living nearby.
It should be recalled that the Vector plant is owned by relatives of the former deputy head of the Nizhny Novgorod administration, Ilya Shtokman, who is currently under arrest. It was reported the day before that Shtokman was being transferred from Nizhny Novgorod to Moscow.
