The Kazan exit in Nizhny Novgorod was widened.

      Society — In Nizhny Novgorod, work to widen the Kazan Descent on the section from the Rowing Canal to the Georgievsky Descent has been completed, the mayor’s press service reported.

      According to Ilya Kurapov, first deputy general director of the municipal institution "GUMMiD," an additional lane toward the River Station has been laid out on the section. As part of the work, the contractor relocated lighting poles, modernized the traffic light installation and installed new stormwater inlets and drainage. Road markings have already been applied, and the road is fully open to traffic.

      The municipal Center for Traffic Management (TsODD) added that the section of the Kazan Descent had previously been overloaded due to the merging of two traffic streams — from the Rowing Canal and from the descent itself. Low throughput caused regular congestion.

      "A separate lane for left turns has now been allocated. Thanks to this, we have been able to reduce traffic jams and, in the long term, lower accident rates and improve road safety," said lead engineer Dmitry Matskevich.

      It should be noted that 18.6 million rubles were allocated for the project’s implementation.

      The mayor’s office added that the road repair works planned under the national project "Infrastructure for Life" for 2025 have been fully completed.

      Earlier it was reported that the detour on Rodionova Street is scheduled to open next week.
