A branch of the Krasnoyarsk Gastronomic Institute is planned to open in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was announced at a meeting of Governor Gleb Nikitin with business representatives on November 19.
Alexey Belyaev, director of the Association of Restaurateurs of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, noted that the staffing shortage affects their industry as well, so the initiative to open a branch attracted great interest from industry representatives. According to him, the appearance of the institute in Krasnoyarsk gave a powerful impetus to the development of the restaurant business in that city, and he expressed hope that a similar effect will be achieved in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
He added that restaurateurs can also assist with student internships and mentoring.
Gleb Nikitin emphasized that more than 25 educational institutions already operate in the region, training specialists for the public catering sector, including the unique Institute of Food Technologies. However, he said, the opening of a specialized gastronomic institute will strengthen personnel training.
"The agreement has been signed. We are in the implementation stage, searching for a site for localization," the governor said, adding that he plans to visit Krasnoyarsk in early December to discuss the project details.
It was previously reported that Nizhny Novgorod catering establishments are lacking about 1,500 cooks.
