Deputy Chairman of the Public Chamber of Nizhny Novgorod Roman Permyakov gave a lecture to employees of the regional office of the Federal Tax Service for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, where he presented a systemic analysis of the causes and consequences of the special military operation and outlined the strategic challenges facing the country.
The lecture took place as part of the educational project "Knowledge.State" and attracted about 100 employees of the region's tax service both in person and online.
During the event, Permyakov also showed a fragment of the documentary film "Brothers by Blood" (16+), produced by journalists of NOIC and recounting the events in Donbas from the eyewitnesses' accounts.
According to Permyakov, the current conflict has become not merely a local confrontation but has triggered global shifts in international politics.
"The question today is not whether the Russians want war, but how to prevent a large-scale war. The only answer is strengthening all foundations of state power: the economy, technology and defense," he noted.
The lecturer drew attention to the fact that the rhetoric of Western countries, which call Russia an "existential threat," does not change even under different scenarios for the end of the special military operation. Moreover, it is accompanied by concrete actions: expanding military budgets, strengthening NATO, the reintroduction of conscription in a number of European countries, and the ignoring of peace initiatives.
To respond to these challenges, according to Permyakov, a comprehensive approach is required. It includes technological superiority, the creation of new types of weapons, solving demographic and staffing problems, increasing labor productivity, digitalization and a new industrialization.
