An unusual "familial" case of cancer was identified in Nizhny Novgorod.

      A couple from Nizhny Novgorod underwent colonoscopies, and both were found to have cancer. This was reported on his Telegram channel by Alexey Nikonov, editor-in-chief of the medical publication "Stacionar-press."

      According to him, the man ignored alarming symptoms for a long time until his wife insisted on an examination. As an argument, the woman promised to undergo the procedure with him.

      The examination proved decisive: the man was diagnosed with rectal cancer. The wife kept her word and also underwent a colonoscopy — she was found to have an early stage of intestinal cancer.

      Both patients were promptly operated on at the Nizhny Novgorod Oncology Center. Their condition is now assessed as stable; they are under ongoing monitoring by doctors.

      Doctors emphasize: colonoscopy is an effective way to detect intestinal cancer early. People over 45 are advised to undergo this screening regularly, even if asymptomatic.
