The new economizer improved the boiler's efficiency at the Avtozavodskaya CHP plant.
October 31, 2025, 10:41 Avtozavodskaya CHPP (part of En+ Teplo Volga) has completed the replacement of part of the water economizer — a heat exchanger — on boiler No. 12. The new system increases the boiler’s efficiency, reduces fuel consumption and lowers carbon dioxide emissions.
The replacement was required due to the emergence of defects. To avoid shutting down the boiler during the peak load season, a decision was made to carry out repair work.
A crew of 14 highly skilled specialists — installers, insulation specialists, nondestructive testing specialists and welders — worked for four months to replace the 55-ton unit. Similar work will be carried out on boiler No. 14 next year.
In addition to replacing the economizer, before the start of the heating season the CHPP’s specialists carried out a large volume of work. They inspected the metal condition of more than one thousand sections of pipe bends, completely replaced the flue gas ducts and air ducts, and refurbished two burner units on boiler No. 15. They repaired turbo units No. 7 and No. 8, and performed major overhauls on turbines No. 11 and No. 12.
Following all the completed work, the CHPP officially confirmed its readiness for stable operation during the winter period, receiving a readiness certificate from the district administration. “This document confirms the CHPP’s readiness to reliably supply consumers with thermal energy during the autumn-winter period,” said Mikhail Yefimov, CEO of En+ Teplo Volga.
