      Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labour, Social Policy and Veterans’ Affairs Yaroslav Nilov has proposed introducing a mandatory check of the legal capacity of home sellers. He addressed this initiative to the Prosecutor General’s Office, 360.ru reports.

      Nilov believes it is necessary to create additional control tools for property transactions, including mandatory checks by Rosreestr of information on the seller’s health and legal capacity.

      He noted that recently there has been an increase in cases where people lose legally acquired property due to court disputes related to the invalidity of transactions. The basis for such disputes is often the argument that the transaction was carried out by a person who could not understand the significance of their actions.

      In Nilov’s view, such situations are often exploited by fraudsters. In this regard he emphasized the importance of developing clear mechanisms to protect buyers’ interests and guarantee the safety of real estate transactions.

      Recall that recently a pensioner in Nizhny Novgorod sold an apartment for 6.6 million rubles and handed the money to fraudsters.
