The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case into the bullying of a pupil at one of the schools in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the agency’s press service reported.
It is recalled that the 13-year-old sixth-grader was subjected to systematic bullying by classmates. At first they taunted her at school, and then began insulting her in a Telegram channel read by hundreds of users. Conversations with the students, their parents and teachers produced no result.
After the story ran in the media, all insulting posts were removed from the Telegram channel.
At the instruction of Ayrat Akhmetshin, head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region, an investigator of the Urensky interdistrict investigative department has initiated a criminal case on the charge of torture.
As part of the investigation, authorities will establish all the circumstances of the incident and will also examine the actions of the educational institution’s staff. A legal assessment will be given regarding possible negligence by school officials.
In addition, the Nizhny Novgorod regional prosecutor’s office has launched its own probe into possible violations of legislation on the prevention of neglect and juvenile delinquency.
Earlier it was reported that the Investigative Committee had opened a criminal case under an article on negligence over bullying and violence against a schoolchild at a school in the Varnavinsky district.
