A meeting was held at the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Railway Transport with participants of the 99th humanitarian mission of the "Young Guard," who had returned from Donetsk. The event took the form of an open dialogue and became a platform for reflecting on the real experiences young people lived through in the liberated territories. Activists described how service in the hospital was carried out: helping the wounded, sanitation work, caring for fighters, conversations with residents of frontline settlements — all of this became for them not merely volunteer work but a personal test and a serious life lesson.
"Some remember their student days for walks and part‑time jobs, and others — for how they saved a person in Donbass. Our guys did not stand aside: they peeled potatoes in the hospital, accompanied the wounded, carried out sanitary missions — and they did it from the heart. They brought this experience here so that others could 'catch' it — in a good sense: compassion, mercy, and a readiness to help. And to strengthen this work, we signed a cooperation agreement between the 'Young Guard' and the institute," noted the leader of the regional branch of the Young Guard of United Russia, veteran of the special military operation Roman Zykov.
Volunteer work in the liberated territories is not only humanitarian aid but also an awareness that everyone can become part of a larger shared story. Mission participants spoke about the gratitude of Donbass residents, about their resilience and faith despite constant shelling. For many students this trip radically changed their attitude toward responsibility, the Motherland and the notion of service.
"Today we held a truly significant meeting at our institute. We welcomed the young people who returned from the humanitarian trip to Donetsk. Their act is an example of civic maturity and true humanity. And signing the agreement with the 'Young Guard' opens new opportunities for students to participate in patriotic, volunteer and social projects," emphasized Natalya Malanicheva, director of the Privolzhsky State Institute of Railway Transport.
For the students themselves, such meetings are not only an opportunity to learn the truth "without filters," but also to realize that a civic position is formed not on the internet, but through concrete deeds. That is why young people increasingly ask how to help the front, what projects the student community can implement, and how to become a volunteer.
"It was very important for us that we were not just listened to, but heard. We want to share this experience because it changes one's outlook on life, responsibility and the notion of duty. We will definitely continue and go again — because they are waiting there and believe in us," shared Dmitry Moiseev, head of the Leninsky local branch of the "Young Guard" and a participant in the humanitarian mission.
The signing of the agreement between the regional branch of the Young Guard of United Russia and the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Railway Transport formalized joint initiatives in the areas of patriotic education, volunteering and social projects. The meeting proved that the youth of the Nizhny Novgorod region are not indifferent, know how to listen and are ready to act.
