In the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the results of the competition for the best activities of university student councils were announced.

      At the forum of university student community leaders "StudentsNO", which was held in the Nizhny Novgorod region from October 17 to 20, the winner of the competition for the best activities of student councils was announced. Implemented as part of the national project "Youth and Children", the forum brought together more than 130 young people.

      In the 2024–2025 academic year the winner of the competition was the team from Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N. I. Lobachevsky; second place went to the team from the Privolzhsky Research Medical University; third place went to the team from the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Management — a branch of RANEPA.

      "Congratulations to everyone on an excellent conclusion to the competition! It once again helps to identify the best student teams, support their development and share their experience with others. It is very good that we sum up the results of the competition at the 'StudentsNO' forum, which is being held in the region for the fifth time and brings together the most active university students for the exchange of experience. This year 21 delegations from various universities of the region and one team from the united city student council of Nizhny Novgorod took part in the competition. They worked with a large team of organizers, experienced trainers and moderators. Together they not only develop ready-made solutions for the urgent problems of student councils, but also immediately test them in practice. We believe that all the experience gained will be used by the participants in their work at their educational institutions," said Lev Skitnevsky, Deputy Minister of Youth Policy of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      A total of 10 universities from the Nizhny Novgorod region took part in the competition; they prepared an information briefing about the student organization, presented reports on the practices and events they implement and in which members of the student teams participated.

      Separate nominations were also established in the competition. In the categories "Creative Initiatives and Creative Industries", "Intercultural Dialogue", "Youth Media Practices", "Ecology" and "Cultural Contribution" the victory went to the team from Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N. I. Lobachevsky; in the categories "Promotion of a Healthy Lifestyle", "Personnel Reserve of Student Communities" and "Scientific Activity" — students from the Privolzhsky Research Medical University; in the categories "Interaction with Applicants" and "Corporate Culture" — the team from Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistic University named after N. A. Dobrolyubov; in the category "Patriotic Education" — the team from the Privolzhsky branch of the Russian State University of Justice named after V. M. Lebedev; in the category "Volunteerism" — the team from the National Research University Higher School of Economics.

      Winners were also announced in new special categories. "Discovery of the Year" was the team from the Nizhny Novgorod State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, and in the category "Chairperson of OOVO" the best was Yakov Chernov, chairperson of the student association of the Privolzhsky Research Medical University.

      Within the framework of the forum, participants were able to analyze the activities of their student associations, adjust their structure and develop new events. The educational program was built around three key directions: "Continuity and Motivation", "Creative Workshop" and "Work with Target Audiences". Participants in each direction created a final product at the end of the forum. Thus, the participants from the "Creative Workshop" developed various methods and tools of creative thinking, and also discussed how to create an event or product that would meet the demands of the target audience. Participants in the "Continuity and Motivation" direction developed tools for transferring experience from generation to generation. Within the third direction, students created an algorithm for designing communities and formed images and profiles of their target audiences. Curatorial work with interactive formats that complemented the educational program was also carried out with the participants.

      The organizer of the "StudentsNO" forum and the competition for the best student activities was the youth center "Vysota" with the support of the region's Ministry of Youth Policy.

      Recall that since 2025, by order of President Vladimir Putin, the national project "Youth and Children" has come into effect in Russia; it fulfills tasks previously provided for in the national projects "Education" and "Science and Universities". The national project is aimed at creating opportunities for the development of talents and self-realization of young people, and at fostering a responsible and highly moral individual. At the center of the national project are the construction and repair of schools, the professional development of teachers, the creation of new teaching methods and comfortable learning conditions. Special attention is paid to supporting talented youth, including young specialists. The national project includes nine federal projects and programs: "Russia — a Land of Opportunities", "We Are Together", "Russia in the World", "All the Best for Children", "Leading Schools", "Teachers and Mentors", "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses", "Universities for a Generation of Leaders", "Professionalitet".
