In Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod businessman Dmitry Kartushin was arrested. He owns the company "Geo-Gid", which provides legal services and handles real estate matters. The court ordered him held in custody.

Information about the arrest appeared in the registry of courts of general jurisdiction of the city of Moscow. The Tagansky District Court made the decision on the preventive measure. Kartushin has already filed an appeal, but it has not yet been considered.

According to the publication "Kommersant-Privolzhye", the case is connected to a government contract that "Geo-Gid" signed with the Social Insurance Fund of Russia back in December 2014. At that time Kartushin’s company was commissioned to carry out a technical and economic audit of the Social Insurance Fund’s real estate nationwide. The contract amounted to 220 million rubles.

Later the client raised complaints about the second part of the work performed. The contractor was asked to redo everything and pay a fine of 1.1 million rubles. Despite this, the audit was ultimately accepted and paid for in full.

There have been no official comments from the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the nature of the charges yet.

Earlier it was reported that former deputy mayor of Nizhny Novgorod Ilya Shtokman was kept in a pre-trial detention center.

A bill to launch a special tax regime — the "Automated Simplified Taxation System" — has been submitted to the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The initiator was the Communist Party (KPRF) faction in the Legislative Assembly.

According to the initiative, the new regime is planned to be introduced on January 1, 2026, and applied until the end of 2027. The stated goal of the innovation is to reduce the administrative burden on entrepreneurs and support business activity in the region.

Legal entities and individual entrepreneurs registered in the Nizhny Novgorod Region will be able to use the simplified regime. At the same time, the annual income of such entities must not exceed 60 million rubles, and the average number of employees must be no more than five.

The proposed regime provides for two possible tax bases: income, or income minus expenses. The entrepreneur independently chooses the suitable option and may change it annually.

One of the key advantages of the new system will be exemption from the need to file tax returns. Accounting of income and expenses will be conducted in the taxpayer’s personal account. Tax authorities will independently calculate the tax amount based on data received from cash registers and through online services.

The head of the KPRF faction in the Legislative Assembly, Roman Kabeshev, emphasized that the adoption of the law will allow the implementation of federal measures to support small businesses, improve the business climate, and increase the economic attractiveness of the region.

Earlier, Legislative Assembly deputy Rustam Dosaev spoke about the proposed changes to the tax system, which, in his opinion, could seriously affect small businesses.
