A rabies quarantine has been imposed in the districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      A rabies quarantine has been imposed in two localities of the Nizhny Novgorod region and lifted in three. The corresponding decrees were signed by the region’s governor.

      Thus, quarantine has been established in the village of Salgany in the Krasnooktyabrsky municipal district and in the settlement of Petrovsky in the Vorotynsky municipal district. Rabies had previously been detected in a fox and a dog in these localities.

      Private household plots have been recognized as epizootic foci. During the quarantine, treatment of susceptible animals in the focus, their movement, import and export (except for those vaccinated within the last 179 days), as well as hunting, except for population-control measures, are prohibited. Access by outsiders is also restricted.

      Under the quarantine, exhibitions, fairs and other events involving animals are prohibited throughout the settlements, and the removal of susceptible animals is banned except in cases of slaughter or where vaccination is confirmed within the established timeframes.

      In both cases, the quarantine measures apply to relations arising from 9 October 2025.

      At the same time, as of 10 October 2025, the rabies quarantine for animals was lifted in the following areas:

      - part of Gorodets bounded by Ordzhonikidze Street, Osoaviakhimovsky Lane, Bazhenova Street, Belinsky Street, Respublikanskaya Street and the Furmanovsky microdistrict (quarantine there was imposed on 10 April);

      - the village of Kotel'nitsy in the Chkalovsky district, where restrictive measures had been in effect since July;

      - the settlement of Pilna in the Pilninsky municipal district, where quarantine was also imposed in July.

      Earlier it was reported that the quarantine for African swine fever had been lifted in the Voskresensky district.
