The governor of Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, suggested that Russians who may be expelled from Latvia move to the region. He reported this on his Telegram channel.

According to the head of the region, hundreds of Russian citizens in Latvia are now under threat of deportation — including because they do not know the Latvian language. At the same time, as Nikitin noted, people are being effectively deprived of the right to speak their native language.

He emphasized that Nizhny Novgorod Region is ready to accept those who have found themselves in such a difficult situation. The region, he said, is open to everyone who wants to live in a country where culture, traditions and family values are respected.

The "OKA" agency will help with relocation, paperwork and finding housing. It also handles the adaptation of resettlers in their new location.

In addition, a program called "Osnova" is in effect for new residents. Under this initiative a large payment is provided — 1 million rubles upon the birth of a child. This is one of the most generous support measures in the country.

"The Nizhny Novgorod land has always been hospitable to those who want to live according to their conscience. We will support everyone who makes this choice," wrote Gleb Nikitin.

Earlier it was reported that Nizhny Novgorod is one of the most attractive million-plus cities for young people to move to.
