LDPR deputies submitted a bill to the State Duma proposing the exemption of interest on bank deposits from personal income tax (NDFL) for large families, pensioners, participants in the special military operation (SMO) and their relatives for the period from 2025 to 2027, 360.ru reported.

The initiative is aimed at improving the financial situation of these groups of citizens, reducing the tax burden and increasing the attractiveness of bank deposits.

Deputy head of the LDPR faction Sergey Leonov noted that large families often use deposits to save for housing but are forced to pay personal income tax on the interest, which reduces their ability to renovate or buy larger housing. Participants in the SMO and their relatives save money for major purchases, and the tax exemption will allow them to keep more money.

Recall that updated rules on the taxation of income from bank deposits come into force in Russia from 2025. In particular, deposit income is taxed at a rate of 13% up to 2.4 million rubles and 15% on amounts exceeding that. In 2021–2022 this benefit was in effect, but was later canceled for all citizens.

Earlier it was reported that the number of bank deposits opened in the first half of 2025 doubled. Residents of Nizhny Novgorod keep almost 1 trillion rubles in bank accounts.
