A tourist rally of TOS activists was held in Nizhny Novgorod.

      A camping rally for TOS activists took place in Nizhny Novgorod. The aim of the event was to strengthen team interaction among activists of territorial public self-government and to develop skills for solving non-standard tasks under constraints of time and space. This was reported by the Department of Social Communications and Youth Policy of the administration of the city of Nizhny Novgorod.

      “Territorial public self-government is, first and foremost, the people thanks to whom Nizhny Novgorod moves and develops,” noted Deputy Head of the city of Nizhny Novgorod Vladimir Anisimov, thanking the activists on behalf of the head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, for their participation in city life.

      “The presence of about 100 people at this event is a vivid confirmation of how much the union and joint work of activists inspire and make Nizhny Novgorod increasingly convenient and comfortable to live in. I am sure we have many more new opportunities and achievements ahead,” said Artur Shtoyan, Director of the Department of Social Communications and Youth Policy.

      As the city department reported, participants went through a number of contests aimed at adapting to changes, effectively allocating roles and resources, and improving communication and coordination. At the end, the activists had the opportunity to talk and discuss issues of interest with representatives of the city administration, as well as to exchange experiences with one another.

      The camping rally was held as part of the work of the TOS Club “We’ll #BeTogether.” During the training, the next co-chairs of the TOS Club were elected — they were the Nizhegorodsky and Sormovsky districts. In the coming months, district representatives will discuss the best practices of their territorial public self-government councils and current issues of territorial development.

      Earlier, the head of Nizhny Novgorod, Yuri Shalabaev, congratulated the city TOSs on their 30th anniversary and presented letters of appreciation to their leaders.

      “Over 30 years, hundreds or even thousands of projects have been implemented for the benefit of Nizhny Novgorod residents. These are social and cultural projects, territory improvements, initiatives aimed at raising the quality of life in neighborhoods. And development continues: neighborhood centers are opening in the city, equipped with the most modern equipment and bringing work with residents to a new level. These are spaces for recreation, creativity and work. Over the past three years we have opened nine such centers, and this year three more are preparing to open. Great thanks to everyone who was at the origins of the TOS movement, and to those who continue to invest their efforts in its development. You are an example of how an active civic stance makes the city better. I wish you further success!” said Yuri Shalabaev.
