Honorary titles for artists and cultural figures will be approved in the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

Two new honorary titles will appear in the Nizhny Novgorod Region — "Honored Artist of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" and "Honored Worker of Arts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region". Amendments to the regional law "On Awards and Prizes" have already been prepared by the regional Ministry of Culture and are currently undergoing an anti-corruption review.
It is planned to confer the titles from 1 January 2026. They will be awarded to those who have made a significant contribution to the development of culture and the arts in the region, as well as to those engaged in training creative personnel or conducting research in this field.
The title "Honored Artist of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" may be awarded to actors, musicians, ballet masters, conductors, composers, directors and choirmasters. The main requirement is at least 15 years of creative activity in the region and recognition by the public and the professional community. However, in exceptional cases the title may be awarded regardless of length of service.
"Honored Worker of Arts of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" may be conferred on architects, painters, designers, writers, poets, playwrights, art historians and other creative specialists.
For them there is also a requirement of 15 years' work in the field of art in the region and a substantial contribution to the development of culture, the creation of scholarly works or participation in the training of young specialists. But, as with artists, exceptions are possible.
Those who receive the honorary title will be presented with a breast badge and an official certificate.
The rules for conferring the titles will be approved by the Legislative Assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
Earlier it was reported that Nizhny Novgorod deputies had established a medal for support of the special military operation (SVO).
