About 500 cubic meters of garbage will be removed from a ravine in the Lyskovsky district.

      Work has begun in the Lyskovsky district to eliminate an unauthorized dump. The action is being carried out jointly with the Ministry of Ecology of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Volunteers of Victory, forest protection officers from the regional Ministry of Forestry, representatives of the All-Russian Society for Nature Conservation (VOOP), and the administration of the Lyskovsky municipal district. Participants in the "Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region" program also joined the initiative, the regional government's press service clarified.

      The event is being implemented under the national project "Environmental Well-Being," aimed at improving environmental quality and increasing the ecological comfort of life.

      The site of the littering is located near Lyskovo, in a ravine by the village of Yegoryevskoye. The illegal dump had formed here over a long period and had generated complaints from local residents. According to preliminary estimates, the volume of waste to be removed and disposed of is about 500 cubic meters. The cleanup of the area is planned to be carried out in stages.

      The head of the regional Ministry of Ecology, Vladimir Tuzhilin, emphasized that such initiatives confirm the importance of people's participation in solving environmental problems. According to him, the joint actions of regional agencies, the municipality, and volunteers help not only to remove garbage but also to change attitudes toward nature. The dump is to be completely eliminated and the site reclaimed by the end of the year, which should serve as an example of a systematic approach to similar problems in the region.

      At the first stage, the forces of state institutions and public associations are focused on manual collection, sorting, and consolidation of waste. Then machinery will be brought in to clear the deep ravine and adjacent areas. The question of involving specialized vehicles and choosing the most effective cleaning technology is currently being worked out. The head of the Lyskovsky district is tasked with preventing the area from becoming littered again in the future and restoring its natural balance.

      It is worth noting that since 2025, at the direction of President Vladimir Putin, the national project "Environmental Well-Being" has been in effect in Russia, continuing the objectives previously set by the national project "Ecology." The new project is aimed at caring for the environment and making it more comfortable for people to live in.

      Earlier it was reported that the authorities of Bor promised to remove an illegal dump by the end of the year.
