Initiative projects by village elders have been implemented in the Arzamas and Borsky districts.

      In the Nizhny Novgorod Region last week the acceptance was held for two initiative projects of rural elders — in the village of Khvatovka in the Arzamas district and the village of Korolevo in the Borsky district, implemented with financial support from the Council of Municipal Formations of the region.

      "The Council of Municipal Formations continues to develop the topic of participatory budgeting. The governor’s project 'You Decide!' is being implemented in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, under which large facilities are being created. In the framework of supporting the initiatives of rural elders we are, rather, talking about the very philosophy of the matter, when elders receive mechanisms for implementing local decisions and the opportunity not only to speak about the needs and aspirations of local residents, but also to bring them to life," said the chairman of the Council of Municipal Formations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, head of Arzamas, Alexander Shchelokov.

      Thus, in the village of Khvatovka the project of elder Alexander Romanov was successfully completed. With the allocated funds a firefighting pier was equipped on the local body of water and the adjacent area was cleared. The implementation of this initiative made it possible to significantly increase the fire safety of the settlement and to improve a popular recreation spot for residents.

      In the village of Korolevo, thanks to financing from the Council of Municipal Formations, the project of elder Antonida Konnova was implemented. As part of the project a new stage area was arranged, which will become a modern public space for holding cultural events, celebrations and organizing leisure activities for residents of all ages. Local residents have already tried out the site by organizing a concert for its opening.

      In total, under the project to support the initiatives of rural elders this year 30 projects will be implemented in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, each costing up to 100,000 rubles. These include well repairs, improvement of springs and public spaces, organization of container sites and others. Project implementation is financed by the Council of Municipal Formations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and completed facilities are transferred to the balance sheets of local administrations.
