In October the online cinema Wink.ru (a joint venture of PJSC Rostelecom and NMG) has prepared premieres for fans of different genres of all ages. Young sleuth Varvara returns to investigations, St. Petersburg neighbors open an underground casino, at the same time South Korean office workers are sent to parallel worlds, the British “Piglet” turns out to be far from a cute little hog, Spanish retirees decide to show their grandchildren who’s boss in the house, and an English mother of three daughters again goes to extreme lengths — this is a brief summary of the stories that will help brighten the lengthening autumn evenings.
Wink Originals premieres
The long-awaited continuation of the children’s comedy-detective series "Curious Varvara. Season Two" (6+) launches on Wink.ru on October 2. In the new season the young sleuth Varvara Smorodina travels with her family and friends to Pyatigorsk for spring break. As always, her investigation partner is Vasya, her sister is the glamorous beauty Zoya, the grandmother is a former forensic expert and the grandfather is a retired investigator. In the new location Zoya will try her hand at acting, and Varvara will face many extraordinary and mysterious cases that only she can solve. The ominous “Hound of the Baskervilles” stalks a famous writer. Vandals paint popular monuments with bright colors. An unusual crime occurs on the set of the film "A Hero of Our Time." Curious Varvara is back in action, but now she has a rival for victory in the federal "Young Detective" contest — an equally curious Angelina Abrikosova. Starring: Polina Aynutdinova, Sergey Fedorov, Veronika Zhuravleva, Lyudmila Artemyeva, Viktor Bychkov, Stepan Devonin, Sergey Stepin, Elena Borshcheva and Vera Ostrovskaya. Filming of the second season of "Curious Varvara" took place in the Caucasian Mineral Waters region. The family detective’s action unfolds in Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk, Zheleznovodsk and the village of Elkush. The series is released in the Wink Originals lineup ("A Boy’s Word. Blood on the Asphalt", "Fisher", "The Combination", "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears. Everything Is Just Beginning", "Ballet" and others).
On October 23 another new project from the Wink Originals lineup will premiere — the crime comedy "We Want Poker" (18+). The lead roles in the project from director Rustam Ilyasov ("Troubled Teens") about young people who decide to make easy money are played by Sasha Bortich, Artem Koshman, Timofey Yeletsky, Ulan Adambaev, Sabina Akhmedova, Petr Skvortsov and Dasha Vereshchagina. It all began with a decision by three roommates in a St. Petersburg apartment to earn money: Vitya, Yega and Bek open a home poker club. Playing the boss of an underground business at first seems amusing to them. But soon one of the clients flashes a badge identifying him as an employee of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Unit and gives them an ultimatum — now they are partners or they face prison. The guys are forced to expand the illegal business, which grows from a single poker table in an ordinary apartment building into an underground gaming empire. The series was produced by the film company Black Box Production on order from NMG Studios. Specially for the project, a resource to help people suffering from gambling addiction was launched — namnepoker.rf. It will help understand when a game stops being just a game and find a way out of a difficult situation.
Also in October another Wink Originals premiere is planned — the melodrama "A Thousand 'No's and One 'Yes'" (18+) from producer Zhora Kryzhovnikov and director Andrey Silkin. The premiere date will be announced later.
Cinema arrivals
The South Korean fantasy-action film "Omniscient Reader" (18+) opens on Wink.ru on October 2. Kim Dok-cha’s world literally falls apart. An ordinary office worker suddenly finds himself inside the plot of his favorite web novel about the end of the world — a story he seems to have been the only one to finish reading. And when reality begins to mirror the pages of the book, no one but Dok-cha can predict the catastrophes, understand the rules of the new reality and change the ending that would be disastrous for everyone. Starring Ahn Hye-seop, Lee Min-ho, Chae Soo-bin, Shin Seung-ho, Kwon Eun-sun and others.
The Spanish comedy about intergenerational relationships "What a Holiday or a Holiday for the Ages" (12+) also begins on Wink.ru on October 2. Manuela and Jose adore their grandchildren, but they babysit so often that they can’t remember the last time they spent time alone together. Once again they are forced to cancel a long-awaited vacation because of an important business trip by their children. However, when Manuela and Jose learn that the "business trip" is actually a trip to Bali, they decide to make the grandchildren never want to stay with grandma and grandpa again. Starring Gracia Olayo, Tito Valverde, Toni Acosta, Ernesto Sevilla, Ricardo Masc, Nicolas Coste, Marta de Toro and others.
The British horror film "Piglet: Blood and Acorns" (18+) will be released on October 6. A group of girls arrive at a country house to celebrate one of their birthdays. The fun is interrupted when a bloody man appears on the cabin doorstep, babbling about a giant boar that attacked him. The girls immediately recall the legend of a pig-headed monster nicknamed Piglet that inhabits the local woods. The responding police officer convinces them it’s a mere coincidence. The celebration continues, but soon the monster comes out of the woods to begin a bloody harvest. Starring Shailey Regan, Alina Desmond, Jeremy Vinogradov, Alex Butler, Lauren Sterk, Valeriy Danko, Alina Varakuta and others.
The British romantic comedy-drama "She Said 'Yes!'" (18+) has also arrived from the UK. Three sisters — strict careerist Catherine, passionate beauty Victoria and homebody Georgina — return to their hometown for their mother, because she’s said "Yes!" again. They are in for vivid emotions, unexpected guests, spicy secrets and many fateful twists. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Sienna Miller, Emily Beecham, Kristin Scott Thomas, Thibaut de Montalembert, Freida Pinto, Michael Spicer and others.
Digital premiere dates may be changed at the initiative of rights holders.
