More than 600 labor and OBZR classrooms were updated in Nizhny Novgorod schools in 2025.

      More than 600 classrooms for subjects such as "Basics of Safety and Protection of the Motherland (OBZR)" and "Labor (Technology)" were renovated and re-equipped in schools of the Nizhny Novgorod Region in 2025. This was reported by the regional Ministry of Education and Science.

      The purchases were made under the national project "Youth and Children." Funding was provided by the federal and regional budgets in a total amount of more than 122 million rubles.

      "Equipping subject classrooms in our schools is an important part of renewing the material and technical base of all educational organizations. The quantity and type of equipment delivered to schools were determined based on the federal list and the equipment that was originally present in the schools. In 2026 the upgrades will also cover subject classrooms and teaching laboratories in physics, visual arts and music," said Mikhail Puchkov, Minister of Education and Science of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      The purchases for OBZR classrooms include various models and medical trainers, including mannequins for teaching the basics of first aid.

      For the subject Labor (Technology), modern sewing machines were purchased for girls' classrooms, while lathes and woodworking, vertical milling machines and hand-held milling machines were purchased for boys' classrooms.

      "I like that now we can learn how to properly give first aid, how to apply splints for fractures. You never know what situation you'll find yourself in, and this knowledge will definitely not be superfluous. It's also always interesting to hold an assault rifle and learn how to disassemble it. I definitely want to serve in the army, so I'm glad I'll go there already prepared," shared Vladimir Lapta, a 6th-grade pupil at the school in the village of Kamenki, Bogorodsky Municipal District.

      Recall that the national project "Youth and Children" has been implemented on the orders of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin since 2025. It includes nine federal projects and programs: "Russia — a Land of Opportunities," "We Are Together," "Russia in the World," "All the Best for Children," "Leading Schools," "Teachers and Mentors," "Creating a Network of Modern Campuses," "Universities for a Generation of Leaders," and "Professionalitet."
