The delegation from Jizzakh Region of Uzbekistan discussed opportunities for cooperation with Nizhny Novgorod Region.
A delegation from the Jizzakh Region of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Acting Deputy Hokim Utkir Muysinaliyev, has arrived in the Nizhny Novgorod Region to strengthen bilateral relations and develop cooperation in trade and economics, education and culture. As part of the visit, a meeting was held at the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin between the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Andrey Sanosyan, and members of the delegation. The event was also attended by the Minister of International and Interregional Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Olga Guseva, and the representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nizhny Novgorod, Sergey Malov.
At the meeting, Andrey Sanosyan presented the potential of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the opportunities for cooperation between the regions. Attention was focused primarily on interaction in the fields of industry and education.
“Today we discussed cooperation across a number of areas. Our regions are similar in some respects: engineering, automobile manufacturing, chemical and light industries are well developed. In particular, we agreed to consider the possibility of implementing a number of joint projects within our Kulibin special economic zone and a free economic zone in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Of course, it is very important to continue developing interaction in the educational sphere. This also concerns students from Uzbekistan who study at universities in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. We see that their number is steadily growing. If three years ago there were one thousand of them out of seven thousand foreign students, today there are already one and a half thousand. We also agreed to sign a cooperation agreement with the Jizzakh Region in various fields in the near future,” said Andrey Sanosyan.
He emphasized that the Republic of Uzbekistan is an important partner for the Nizhny Novgorod Region in many areas. The deputy governor recalled Governor Gleb Nikitin’s working visit to Uzbekistan in May of last year, when he met with the republic’s Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and the leadership of the Jizzakh Region. This year the Nizhny Novgorod delegation plans to participate in the II Council of Regions of Russia and Uzbekistan.
The importance of expanding interaction with Uzbekistan was also noted by the Minister of International and Interregional Relations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Olga Guseva.
“We have long established strong ties and signed cooperation agreements with several regions. Since 2021 our interaction with Uzbek regions has significantly intensified. We are particularly actively developing joint research projects and exchange programs, which allow our students and scientists to gain unique experience. In addition, we plan to continue organizing cultural events that will help strengthen friendly relations between us. Plans include holding Jizzakh Region Days in our region, as well as Nizhny Novgorod Region Days in the Jizzakh Region,” added Olga Guseva.
Acting Deputy Hokim Utkir Muysinaliyev also stressed the need to expand areas of interaction between the regions.
“This is my first visit to the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and I am impressed by its beauty and atmosphere. The Nizhny Novgorod Region played a significant role in the development of the Russian Federation both historically and economically. I am pleased to be here and to feel the depth of this history. We are extremely interested in cooperation. We have four free economic zones, and we will be waiting to host our Nizhny Novgorod colleagues; we are also ready to send our specialists for experience exchange. That would be very useful, especially considering that there are many enterprises in the automobile manufacturing sector in our region. I hope for productive cooperation,” said Utkir Muysinaliyev.
As part of the visit, the delegation laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and took a sightseeing tour of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin.
