Ten traffic lights in Nizhny Novgorod will be upgraded by the end of the year.

      In Nizhny Novgorod, large-scale modernization of traffic light facilities continues under the national project "Infrastructure for Life." A total of 10 such sites are planned to be overhauled in 2025.

      Work has already been completed on Barminskaya Street, I.I. Kiselev Square, and on three sections of Lyadov Square. At the remaining sites — two on Odesskaya Street and three on Krasnoselskaya Street — the degree of readiness ranges from 40 to 60%.

      As explained by the MKU "Center for Traffic Management," the modernization process involves replacing not only the traffic lights but also the poles on which they are mounted. In addition, pedestrian signal devices, duplicate signal sections and road signs are being renewed.

      Leading engineer Dmitry Matskevich noted that after the upgrade each site effectively becomes new and fully complies with modern safety requirements.

      He also said that during the works they try to minimize inconvenience to road users. For example, on Barminskaya Street the main work was carried out on sidewalks and during periods when traffic load was minimal. In cases where congestion could not be avoided, work was temporarily suspended.

      In addition, under the "Clean Sky" project, implemented at the direction of the city head Yuri Shalabayev, all cables are being laid underground. This not only increases reliability but also helps create a more aesthetically pleasing urban environment.

      Residents of Barminskaya Street have already appreciated the result: according to them, crossing the road has become noticeably more comfortable and safer.

      It was previously reported that almost 12 million rubles were allocated for the modernization of traffic lights in Nizhny Novgorod.
