Torpedo lost to Dinamo Minsk, losing their lead in the KHL.

      Nizhny Novgorod HC Torpedo lost to Dynamo 2:3. The main hero of the match, played on September 24, was the hosts' forward Vitaliy Pinchuk, who completed a hat-trick.

      In the first period the only goal was scored by Pinchuk, who converted a rebound on the power play. The Nizhny side could have equalized: Bobby Nardella failed to convert a clear chance, and Ivan Kulbakov saved the team by stopping Usov on a one-on-one.

      The second period was a much more open affair. Mikhail Abramov equalized after a shot by Sergey Boikov, but a minute later Pinchuk again put the hosts ahead with a shot into the top corner. Soon Nikita Shavin finished Kirill Voronin's pass at the far post — 2:2. However, Pinchuk did not stop there: by completing his hat-trick he once again put Dynamo in the lead.

      In the third period Torpedo had to withstand time short-handed, including a minute of 3-on-5 play. Kulbakov bailed the team out, and the players acted sacrificially in defense. In the closing stages the chance came for the Nizhny players: an opponent's penalty and play with six skaters and no goalkeeper. But the visitors could not equalize.

      Torpedo head coach Alexey Isakov noted that the match was spectacular: "The outcome was decided by play in uneven numbers. We had chances, but failed to convert them."

      Dynamo coach Dmitry Kvartalnov emphasized the importance of special teams: "Today the power play and the penalty kill decided it. In the 5-on-3 we could have scored more, but it didn't work out. On the penalty kill the team was very reliable."

      Torpedo started the championship with six wins and had been the KHL leader. Now Isakov's team occupies second place in the Western Conference standings, with 13 points and trailing Lokomotiv on tiebreakers.
