The banking system has become more balanced after 2022, said the bank’s first deputy chairman Dmitry Pyanov at the VTB investment forum "Russia Calls! St. Petersburg."
The discussion platform brought together financial market experts and investors in the northern capital.
"The main rule is that money must be given to the client without delays. Any pause breeds an avalanche of rumors and panic. We went through this in 2022 and concluded: it is better to lose liquidity on the balance sheet than the trust of clients… The banking system has become more balanced after 2022," Dmitry Pyanov noted.
He pointed out that market investors make up a large share of the Russian market, for whom regular and predictable dividends are an important factor in making investment decisions.
Pyanov emphasized that, in matters of information security, the whole world looks at Russia with respect, because the country faces hacker attacks more often than others and, due to the need for import substitution of software, relies on its own resources.
"It turns out that they have an army of hackers, and we have a Hulk in the form of import-substituted systems and a very high level of attention, very large bank investments in information security not only to counter intrusions but also to speed up system recovery. We all go through tough tests, including engaging 'white-hat hackers.' Now we deflect everything," the expert shared.
