      A criminal case has been opened in Nizhny Novgorod following reports in the media and on social networks about attacks by stray dogs on city residents. This was reported by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

      A regional TV company aired a report describing the aggressive behavior of animals in the Kanavinsky District.

      At the instruction of Ayrat Akhmetshin, head of the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, an investigator from the district department opened a criminal case under Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, "Negligence."

      Investigators are currently carrying out the necessary measures to establish all the circumstances of the incident and determine the circle of persons who may have been responsible for the situation with stray animals.

      Earlier it was reported that Bastrykin took the case of a dog attack on a child in the Kstovo District under his control.

      It was also reported that Nizhny Novgorod's "Russian Post" was fined after a dog bit an employee.
