
Four Nizhny Novgorod scientists ranked among the top 2% of the world's most influential scientists.

Stanford University has published its annual international ranking, which includes the top 2% most-cited and influential scientists in the world. Four representatives of the scientific community from Nizhny Novgorod made it onto this prestigious list.
The ranking includes scientists from two universities: Leonid Kuzmin from the R.E. Alekseev Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University, and Alexey Maslov, Vladimir Sukhov and Vladimir Chuvildeev from the N.I. Lobachevsky Nizhny Novgorod State University.
In addition, the list includes Italian Claudio Franceschi, who recently became an Honorary Doctor of NNSU.
The ranking is formed on the basis of an analysis of data from the Scopus bibliographic database and is created with the participation of the publisher Elsevier. Metrics such as the Hirsch index, total number of citations, number of publications, and the impact of work both over the entire scientific career and for the last year are taken into account. The list covers 22 scientific fields and 176 subcategories. It includes only those researchers whose metrics are in the top 2% for their respective specialization.
Earlier it was reported that the head of the Department of Astrophysics and Space Plasma Physics of the A.V. Gaponov-Grekhov Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Kocharovsky, and the head of the "Physics of Micro- and Nanostructures" direction, Zakhary Krasilnik, became academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
