      A rabies quarantine among animals has been imposed in the town of Lyskovo in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The corresponding decree of the region’s governor was published on the official portal of regulatory legal acts.

      The restrictive measures were introduced at the recommendation of the Veterinary Committee. Lyskovo has been designated a non‑favorable territory, and the epizootic focus has been defined as the area within a two‑kilometer radius of the coordinates 56.022026, 45.010689 — on the premises of the public organization "Nizhny Novgorod Regional Society of Hunters and Fishermen."

      During the quarantine period, it is prohibited within the focus to treat infected animals, to move and regroup susceptible species, and to import or export them (except for animals vaccinated not less than 179 days prior to export), as well as to hunt, except for population control of wild animals. Access by outsiders to the territory is also restricted.

      Throughout Lyskovo, fairs, exhibitions and other events involving susceptible animals are prohibited, as is their removal (except in cases of slaughter and removal of vaccinated animals). In addition, capturing wild animals for zoos is prohibited.

      The Veterinary Committee has been instructed to develop and approve a plan to eliminate the focus and prevent further spread of the infection. Control over the implementation of the measures will be carried out jointly by regional and local authorities, the veterinary service, Rospotrebnadzor, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the relevant ministries.

      The decree applies to relations arising from September 9, 2025.

      Earlier, a rabies quarantine was already imposed in September in the village of Melyaevo in the Kulebaki urban district and in the village of Dubskoye in the Perevozsky district. In August, similar measures were in effect in six localities of the region.
