      The Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Gleb Nikitin, took part in voting in the municipal deputies' elections. He visited one of the polling stations in Nizhny Novgorod.

      "It seems to me that every person should regard voting as an element of discipline, an obligatory civic duty. We must set an example for children so that later they would be ashamed to show passivity and indifference and not go to the polls," the head of the region said.

      Recall that the three-day voting began on 12 September. Elections in the region are being held in 25 municipal and four urban districts, including Nizhny Novgorod. In total, 428 deputies are to be elected in the oblast, of whom 39 are to the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma.

      The governor emphasized that the elected deputies will have a significant impact on the development of the territories. He added that participation in voting gives citizens the moral right to hold the authorities to account.

      The mayor of Nizhny Novgorod, Yury Shalabaev, also cast his vote.
