Science. At the Privolzhsky Research Medical University (PIMU), the first two phases of clinical trials of tissue engineering products are underway. This was reported by Alexey Nikonov, editor-in-chief of the MIA "Stacionar-press," on his Telegram channel.
Specialists are assessing the safety and efficacy of a biological skin substitute in the treatment of patients with burns, as well as trophic ulcers of the lower limbs.
The products under development belong to the Russian company Akrus Biomed. Their use is intended for healing hard-to-treat wounds, as well as correcting certain dermatological and cosmetic defects.
The trials are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025.
It should be noted that there are currently no such "skin substitutes" in Russia.
