The prosecutor’s office has filed a lawsuit with the Semenovsky District Court against Sorokin and his ex-wife demanding the return to the state treasury of funds obtained illegally. The total amount of the claim exceeds 2 billion rubles. This was reported by TASS. It turned out that Sorokin, using his powers, assisted the company LLC "Specialized Developer 'Start-Stroy'", which belonged to his wife Elada Nagornaya (she owned 60% of the authorized capital). This firm was involved in laundering corrupt proceeds that were disguised as net profit. In the period from 2016 to 2022 it was paid more than 2,065,000,000 rubles in dividends.
Earlier, in September 2025, the prosecutor’s office reported that more than one billion rubles had already been recovered from Sorokin for conducting commercial activities contrary to anti-corruption requirements. Before that, 1.5 billion rubles had already been recovered from him and persons associated with him in favor of the state.
