A new polyclinic has opened at the Nizhny Novgorod Cardiac Center named after Korolyov.

      On September 8, a new Center for Dispensary Observation opened on the grounds of the Research Institute – Specialized Cardiosurgical Clinical Hospital named after Academician B.A. Korolev. From 8:00 the first patients have been received here; more than 120 people are planned to be served during the day.

      The Nizhny Novgorod Region Ministry of Health emphasized that the medical institution acquired its own polyclinic as part of the comprehensive hospital territories development project "Health Quarter." The launch of the Center for Dispensary Observation completely separated inpatient and polyclinic patient flows, making care noticeably more convenient for both patients and medical staff.

      The chief physician of the Research Institute – Specialized Cardiosurgical Clinical Hospital named after Academician B.A. Korolev, Anton Maksimov, noted that a new stage has begun for the institution: the Center for Dispensary Observation has started operating. According to him, this is a long-awaited event. Patients who need consultation or diagnostics are received in a separate modern building where details have been thought through — from lockers in the cloakroom to signage on stairwells. Telemedicine will also be organized here: to obtain a certificate or extend disability status for a specific disease, many will no longer need an in-person visit — specialists will review documents and issue conclusions remotely.

      According to the head of the medical institution, seven consultation rooms are currently operating simultaneously in the Center. Reception is provided by two cardiac electrophysiologists, two cardiologists, a vascular surgeon, a pacemaker programming specialist, and a physician who monitors patients with chronic heart failure.

      Anton Maksimov added that in the near future they plan to employ about ten new doctors who will occupy the vacant rooms of the Center for Dispensary Observation. As the polyclinic reaches full capacity, waiting times for specialist appointments will decrease.

      The first visitors have already shared their impressions. Patient Elena said that she has been under observation at the Nizhny Novgorod Cardio Center for many years and was pleasantly surprised: she met the doctor in a new office in a new building. She noted the presence of an elevator, so important for such patients, as well as the cleanliness and well-kept corridors, offices, and restrooms, emphasizing that the interior is pleasant and the renovation was done with love.

      Recall that about 170 million rubles were allocated to create the Center for Dispensary Observation under the "Health Quarter" project: almost 83 million rubles for building reconstruction and interior repairs, and about 85 million for the purchase of furniture, equipment, and medical apparatus. The area of the new polyclinic is about 800 sq. m. Studies to be performed here include computed tomography, bicycle ergometry, stress echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, electrocardiography, Holter monitoring, and others.

      The "Health Quarter" project is being implemented at the initiative of Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin and covers not only the Nizhny Novgorod Cardio Center but also the Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital. It foresees large-scale renovations, construction and repurposing of adjacent facilities, landscaping of the territory and development of road infrastructure. In addition, centralization of a number of services of the two hospitals is planned: laboratories, the catering unit, transport, and building and grounds maintenance.

      The fight against cardiovascular diseases is a key direction of the new national project "Longer and More Active Life," which has been implemented since 2025 at the directive of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It continues the objectives of the national "Healthcare" project. The goal is an expected increase in life expectancy by 2030, for which plans include the renovation of polyclinics, outpatient clinics and feldsher-midwife stations, the attraction of a larger number of qualified personnel, the introduction of new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases, improvement of emergency care and rehabilitation systems, development of a network of national research centers, and digitalization of the sector.
