      A driving school set up an illegal driving range near Mescherskoye Lake in Nizhny Novgorod, the program "Kstati" (16+) reported.

      Practical lessons take place on the plot between Proletarskaya Street and the Vera Theater, where residents are accustomed to walking with their children.

      According to eyewitnesses, every 15–20 minutes cars bearing the driving school's markings enter the area. Students perform exercises and practice maneuvers. However, locals claim there are no official vehicle entrances here. According to them, the cars reach the site by driving over lawns or pedestrian paths.

      The driving school's instructors, in turn, say they previously received permission to hold classes near the lake. The school's office added that the training area was coordinated with the traffic police (GIBDD), as well as with the district and city administrations.

      After journalists contacted the Kanavinsky District, local authorities went to the site. As a result, concrete blocks were installed, blocking access to the unauthorized site. The administration does not intend to seek compensation from the driving school because, in their assessment, no damage was done to the area.

      Meanwhile, residents insist that the plot where driving lessons are held belongs to the lake's coastal zone and is effectively part of the park. They express concern that the training drives disturb the peace and safety of visitors.

      Recall that the amount of the state fee for drivers in the Nizhny Novgorod Region increased on September 1.
