      Volunteer and patriotic organizations in the region may submit applications and nominate their candidates for the honorary badge "For Service to People," which was established in the Nizhny Novgorod Region to recognize the merits of citizens who have made a significant contribution to the development of volunteering and the implementation of socially significant initiatives. The honorary badge "For Service to People" was established in 2023 by decree of the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The initiative to establish a new title in the region as one of the effective measures to support volunteering was put forward by the Nizhny Novgorod branch of the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory." It was supported by other public organizations and associations. The first recipients of this high award received it from the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, Gleb Nikitin, on June 12, 2024. They were Nizhny Novgorod residents who distinguished themselves in providing systematic assistance in orphanages, nursing homes, hospices, shelters and medical institutions; in implementing projects aimed at strengthening moral values and promoting a healthy lifestyle; residents of the region who contributed to the prevention of socially dangerous diseases and distinguished themselves in organizing and holding socially significant events. In total, 45 Nizhny Novgorod residents were awarded the honorary badge "For Service to People" in 2024. "The award is intended to honor those who are not indifferent to the fates of people and are always ready to help their neighbors. Each honorary badge is not just an encouragement of volunteer initiatives, but also hundreds of thousands of 'thank yous' from people who have already received comprehensive support. We see interest in the award: more than 150 petitions for awarding have already been submitted. This once again confirms that the number of good deeds in the region is growing," emphasized Acting Minister of Personnel Policy of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Elena Amosova. One of the initiators of nominations for the award is the ANO "Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region." "The honorary badge 'For Service to People' is a sign of gratitude and respect for those who make an invaluable contribution to the development of the volunteer movement, social support of the population and charitable activities. In our region there are many people whose deeds speak louder than words. They do not expect gratitude, but they deserve it like no one else. Often the teams of the organizations where they work know more about such modern-day heroes than others. And we very much hope that they will take an active part in the nomination campaign," said Maria Samodelkina, General Director of the ANO "Volunteer Center of the Nizhny Novgorod Region." To submit an application, it is necessary to prepare a complete set of documents, indicating the candidate’s personal data (full name, date of birth, contacts), and also providing a copy of the passport and registration details; information on professional activity (place of work, position, length of service); information on achievements (education, awards, volunteer experience); additional materials confirming contribution to the social sphere; and consent to the processing of personal data. The Volunteer Center will ensure the transfer of documents to the Ministry of Personnel Policy of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
