About 6.5 billion rubles have been allocated this year to implement the new national project "Longer and Active Life" in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the press service of the regional government.
Most of the funds — almost 4.6 billion — came from the federal budget, and more than 1.9 billion from the regional budget.
As emphasized by the Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Galina Mikhaylova, the main funding is traditionally directed to the modernization of primary care. This topic was the focus of the sixth regional conference "Sechenov Zemstvo Readings."
According to her, in 2025 more than 1,750 units of equipment, 12 mobile medical complexes and 22 specialized vehicles were purchased for such medical institutions. In addition, nearly 130 healthcare facilities underwent major repairs.
Special attention is being paid to ensuring access to medical care in remote settlements. Galina Mikhaylova stressed that the new transport allows for a change in the format of work in rural areas where there are no stationary institutions. According to her, each mobile complex can serve more than 5,000 patients a year. She urged hospitals to use these resources more actively and to inform residents in advance about the schedules of visits.
Other directions of the national project were also discussed at the conference. Galina Mikhaylova noted that over the past five years infant mortality in the region has decreased by 29%, and mortality from cancer by 8%. It is especially important, she said, that the share of cancers detected at early stages is increasing.
Deputy Minister of Health Tatyana Kovalenko spoke about the progress of preventive activities. According to her, about 585,000 people underwent medical screenings in the first half of the year, of whom 94,000 received in-depth examinations. There are 83 medical organizations and 21 mobile teams operating in the region.
An increase was noted in the number of Nizhny Novgorod residents undergoing reproductive health screening, as well as those being examined at their workplace — more than 117,000 people used this opportunity, almost double last year’s figure.
Recall that the national project "Longer and Active Life" has been implemented in Russia since 2025 and is aimed at increasing life expectancy, renewing the infrastructure of medical institutions, developing prevention and diagnostics, improving emergency care and digitizing the sector.
Earlier, the chief physician of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for Public Health and Medical Prevention, Natalya Savitskaya, spoke about how to start leading an active lifestyle.
