Society In the Botanical Garden at the Institute of Biology and Biomedicine of Nizhny Novgorod State University (NNSU), the largest water lily on the planet — Victoria amazonica — bloomed for a day. This was reported by the university's press service.
This rare and beautiful plant is known for its impressive size.

The flowers of Victoria amazonica open white, but within a few hours begin to change color. Gradually they turn pink or purple, and then sink completely beneath the water.
In May, the Botanical Garden saw the bloom of the unique South African orchid Disa uniflora.
