      Three streets in the private sector of the Leninsky district of Nizhny Novgorod have received new road surfaces. Work on Permskaya, Guryevskaya and Serpukhovskaya streets was carried out under the governor's participatory budgeting project "YOU DECIDE!".

      Activists of the "Social Precinct Officer" project, together with the coordinator, City Duma deputy Oksana Smolina, inspected how the road on Guryevskaya was done. According to the deputy, such projects are important because they allow people to set priorities themselves, and social precinct officers help establish dialogue between residents and authorities.

      Earlier, the quality of the repairs on all three streets was already assessed together with the contractors and the district administration.

      Local social precinct officer Olga Lazorenko said that she has lived in this district for a long time and knows how long people had been waiting for decent roads. She noted that it all worked out thanks to the initiative of the residents themselves and support from the authorities.

      The "Social Precinct Officer" project was launched in spring 2023 at the initiative of Governor Gleb Nikitin. Its participants help people understand city programs and convey their ideas to officials.

      Applications are now being accepted for the next phase of "YOU DECIDE!". Ideas can be submitted until September 15 on the website vam.golosza.ru. This can be done by individuals as well as groups — for example, local community associations (TOSs), rural elders, or families of 10 or more people.

      After the application period, voting will take place. Winning projects will be implemented in 2026. You can track the status of your idea through your personal account on the website.

      In 2025, the region plans to carry out 462 projects selected based on last year's competition. The participatory budgeting system has been operating in the Nizhny Novgorod region for 12 years.
