      Mayor Yuri Shalabaev presented the named scholarships of the head of Nizhny Novgorod to students who distinguished themselves in their studies and public life on the main stage at Minin and Pozharsky Square, where the main celebrations dedicated to City Day are held. Yuri Shalabaev emphasized that City Day is a great occasion to honor those who not only study, but create the future of our city through their achievements and active participation in its life: "Among the students are future teachers, doctors, builders, IT specialists — all those who will be responsible in the near future for developing Nizhny Novgorod. Your energy, your involvement in the life of the city, in scientific research, sports, volunteering and social projects deserve the highest recognition.       As reported by the Department of Social Communications and Youth Policy, by the decision of the head of the city the number of scholarships was increased to 50. A total of 170 applications were submitted for consideration for the named scholarship this year. "Students eligible to apply for the scholarship of the head of the city of Nizhny Novgorod are those studying full-time at state higher education institutions and professional educational organizations located in the territory of the city of Nizhny Novgorod," the department noted.

      According to Margarita Lomakina, a student of the N. I. Florentiev Nizhny Novgorod State Agro-Technological University, she was overwhelmed with emotion on the stage in the presence of the head of the city. "I feel pride for myself and for the others. They all deserve scholarships. I am a member of the university athletics team and also serve on the city student council. I have participated in organizing events both at the university and at the city level. On the city's birthday I would like to note that Nizhny Novgorod is becoming better and developing. Youth centers are opening in the city, and various activities are taking place," Margarita said.

      Sofya Pudovkina, a student of the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Management — a branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, said she felt inspired on stage when her diploma was presented: "I was immensely proud that I received the scholarship on the city's main stage on its birthday. The city gets better and better every year; there are more festivals and various events specifically for young people. That is very right!"

      Ilya Sazankin, a student of the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Management — a branch of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, said he received the scholarship for his volunteer work. "At my university I led the volunteer service center. I consider our city to be developing; there are many opportunities for young people: from holidays and concerts to the development of student self-government and the volunteer movement. I wish the city to remain just as cozy. This is my hometown; I was born and raised here and will live here for a long time. I want to wish it development and prosperity," Ilya Sazankin said.

      Ilya was supported by Margarita Mozokina, a student of the Nizhny Novgorod Music School named after M. A. Balakirev, who received a scholarship for her contribution to the patriotic education of youth and active participation in the work of the Maxim Nastin Center for Military-Patriotic Education. "To my beloved Nizhny Novgorod I wish all the very best, may the city prosper!" the Nizhny Novgorod resident wished.

      Recall that the named scholarship of the head of the city of Nizhny Novgorod was established to create conditions for involving students in socially significant activities, to realize the innovative, intellectual and creative potential of students in the interests of the socio-economic development of the city of Nizhny Novgorod, and to support socially active and talented students.
