Construction of the Chkalov House of Children's Creativity branch in Verkhniye Pechery has been completed.

      Major construction work has been completed in the new branch of the V. P. Chkalov Palace of Children's Creativity on Composer Kasyanov Street in Nizhny Novgorod. The adjacent area, which had previously been neglected, has also been improved.

      This was reported by Mayor Yuri Shalabaev during a working trip around the city timed to City Day.

      According to the head of the city, the decision to open the branch was made after residents of Verkhniye Pechery appealed, expressing the need for an institution of supplementary education in their neighborhood.

      Sergey Razhivin, General Director of the Main Directorate for Capital Construction of the City of Nizhny Novgorod, said that the contractor selected in spring 2024 fully completed all construction work. All engineering systems in the building were replaced, a powerful ventilation and smoke-extraction system was installed, and fire and security alarms were mounted. Considering that the premises are located in a residential building, a noise-absorption system was provided. Razhivin noted that all work was completed to a high standard and on schedule.

      Up to 250 children will be able to study in the renovated building at the same time, and around 2,000 over the course of a year. Classrooms are currently being equipped to modern standards.

      The new branch will offer the most in-demand areas of supplementary education: from programming and 3D modeling to robotics and unmanned aerial systems. Creative areas will also remain in demand — visual arts, dance, vocal training, and others.

      The mayor clarified that the institution is undergoing the licensing procedure, after which it will begin full operation. Enrollment is already open, and the majority of future pupils are residents of Verkhniye Pechery and Kstovo.

      Earlier it was reported that the first bored pile, which will become part of support No. 1 of the future overpass across the Olgino–Bolshaya Yelnya highway, was poured on the bypass of Gagarin Avenue.
